In my search for primary and secondary articles, I have noticed that in many instances of talking about the pirate articles for 4-5 particular crews (Roberts, Phillips, Lowther, Monson, and I think one other one I am missing). I have seen these articles in several secondary sources, but where is the primary source for these located? In what document(s) do they first appear?

My guess would be Johnson. Now I'm going to have to go investigate.

And it was quite unintentional that my reply came two years to the day after the original post. Time sure flies when you are busy.

Roberts', Phillips', and Lowther's sets are all from Johnson.

Low's can be found in the Boston News Letter (I forget the date offhand, but I can look it up if it's important) and also in a slightly different form from the printed account of the trial of Harris and crew.

Not sure who you mean by "Monson", though Sir William Monson's Naval Tracts does contain a set of Elizabethan privateering articles which are strikingly similar in some respects to later pirate articles.
