Some Observations on Hair,

Headscarves and Neckclothes
Based on Illustrations by Laroon

Time and again the curious pirate reenactor asks, "how long was a pirates hair" or "what did they  wear on their head" or "did they have beards" and so on and so on.  This, my first article on the "Talking Heads" of pirate reeancting, may help shed some light on the subject.  But first, a word of caution.  These images you are about to see are NOT images of period pirates.  However, they ARE period images, being London streethawkers from the opening decade of the Golden Age of Piracy.
